July 11th (Tues.): FLY DAY ONLY TO PORTLAND, MAINE! Hotel accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express, Portland Airport for one night only! (We will return to this hotel on our last night together.) Continental Breakfast included and free shuttle service from/to the airport. Short meeting that evening at 7:00 p.m.
July 12th (Wed.): Depart our hotel and drive into Canada to Saint John, New Brunswick for permanent trail walk. (Year Round events in Canada are called Permanent Trails). We will participate in Permanent Trail #170 (10K) The walk is at the Saints Rest Beach Causeway and Irving Nature Park perimeter trails. Drive a short distance for hotel accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites located in Saint John New Brunswick for 2 nights! Continental Breakfast included.
July 13th (Thurs.): Participate in Saint John #246 Permanent Trail from our hotel at your convenience. This walks to the Reversing Falls Visitor Information Center and
all the sights of downtown. Spend all day enjoying this walk!

July 14th (Fri.): Depart our hotel for the 3 hour ferry ride from Saint John to Digby, Nova Scotia http://www.ferries.ca Disembark the ferry and drive to Annapolis Royal and participate in #99 Permanent Trail. Continue onto Halifax, Nova Scotia for hotel accommodations for 3 nights at the Best Western Plus Chocolate Lake Hotel. Hot Buffet Breakfast included.
July 15th (Sat.): Participate in Halifax Harbourside/Universities #35 Permanent Trail and Point Pleasant Park #206 Permanent Trail. Lots of Sightseeing to do on these walks! We will be spending all day in Halifax! Return to our hotel.
July 16th (Sun.): Drive to Lunenburg, Nova Scotia for a sanctioned walk and then onto Peggy’s Cove for sightseeing! http://www.peggyscoveregion.com Return to our hotel.
July 17th (Mon.): Drive to Bible Hill, Nova Scotia for #172 Permanent Trail. This trail walks through an agricultural college and lovely gardens. Continue onto Sydney, Nova Scotia for 2 night hotel accommodations at the Hampton Inn. Continental Breakfast included.
July 18th (Tues.): Participate in two Permanent Trails today! In the morning, #243 Louisbourg. A new coastal trail that has great viewing areas of Louisbourg Harbour and Fortress Louisbourg. In the afternoon, travel back to our hotel to participate in Sydney #59 Permanent Trail.
July 19th (Wed.): From North Sydney depart on a 6-8 hour ferry ride to Channel-Port-Aux-Basques, Newfoundland. Hotel accommodations for one night at the St. Christopher Hotel, overlooking the harbor. Full Breakfast included
July 20th (Thurs.): Start our journey on the west side of Newfoundland, making a couple of scenic stops near Corner Brook. (NO volksmarches today!) Continue to Deer Lake, Newfoundland for hotel accommodations for 2 nights at the Holiday Inn Express. Continental Breakfast included.
July 21st (Fri.): Depart our hotel and drive into Gros Morne National Park for a 2 part sanctioned walk. We will walk from the parking lot for the Western Brook Pond Tour that is approximately 3 kilometers one way to the boat. (6KM Round trip) The trail takes you over the fragile coastal plain. You can walk along and examine the variety of plant life and possibly wildlife. Read the interpretive panels along the trail. We will take the two hour boat ride, hopefully seeing wildlife, waterfalls and the glacier carved land-locked fjord. Second part of the walk is after the boat ride, walk down to the beach for a roundtrip 4KM walk. Return to our hotel.
July 22nd (Sat.): Depart our hotel and drive to Corner Brook for a sanctioned walk and then continue down to Channel Port-Aux-Basques for our hotel for one night, St. Christopher’s Hotel. Full Breakfast included.
July 23rd (Sun.): Depart down the hill for the 6-8 hour ferry ride back to North Sydney, Nova Scotia. Upon returning to North Sydney, drive a short distance to Sydney, to the same hotel, Hampton Inn. Continental Breakfast included.
July 24th (Mon.): Drive to Baddeck, Nova Scotia to visit the Alexander Graham Bell Museum. This museum contains the largest collection of Bell’s artifacts and inventions. http://www.pc.gc.ca. After the self-guided tour, we will participate in the Baddeck #247 Permanent Trail. Continue onto New Glasgow, Nova Scotia for hotel accommodations at the Holiday Inn Express. Continental Breakfast included.
July 25th (Tues.): Depart our hotel and drive over the Confederation Bridge to enter the province of Prince Edward Island. Continue to Summerside for Permanent Trail #169. This trail follows the wooded country land into the quiet nature trails in Rotary Friendship Park. Travel to Charlottetown, PE. and our hotel for two nights, The Best Western, the S/F for Permanent Trail #167 Full Breakfast included.
July 26st (Wed.): Start our journey today heading north to visit the Anne of Green Gables Museum and Home. In the afternoon, drive back to our hotel to participate in walk from our hotel at your convenience.
July 27th (Thurs.): Start our journey from Charlottetown all the way back to Portland, Maine!!! Must go through Customs so this will be a long day! Hotel accommodations at the first night hotel of this trip, Holiday Inn Express, Portland. Continental Breakfast included.
July 28th (Fri.): FLY DAY ONLY BACK TO OUR HOME DESTINATIONS!! (Free shuttle service to airport)
